The text looks blurry in the output. What can I do to improve this?
If your PDF pages mainly contain text, you should choose GIF or PNG as the
output format. JPEG is better suited for photographic images.
In all cases, the DPI resolution you choose determines the quality of the
output. If you want sharper quality, simply increase the resolution in the
Options menu.
Note that for screen display, the quality you see will always be
limited to the resolution of your computer monitor. Typically, this is 72 or 96
dpi. For print, your resolution should be set to 150 or 300 dpi.
I want to edit the PDF in my MS Office application. Is pdf2image right for
me?
It depends. pdf2image produces (bitmapped) raster image formats which are
noramlly edited with Paint programs. If you want to incorporate the image in a
document without editing, image formats are fine. If you want to edit the text,
lines and shapes in a PDF drawing, form or page (for example, a data sheet or
marketing brochure), you should use
pdf2picture. It converts from PDF to WMF (Windows Metafile), the
native vector format for Windows and Office. You can use Insert > Picture > From
File… to bring the WMF results into your document, and edit text and graphic elements using the Office drawing tools.
Note: Neither pdf2image or pdf2picture are for converting Word documents heavy
in text.
It works great - but can I use your software to convert
multiple files at once in a batch process?
Yes but you'll need to upgrade to PDF FLY. While pdf2image is specifically packaged and priced for file-by-file
conversion, the same PDF conversion functionality is also available in batch,
server and developer versions for high-volume, automated or integrated
conversion to JPEG, GIF or PNG. Our software can power real-time Web publishing
processes, or add import/export formats to your application. Visit our main
